Around 55 employees, of a total of 223 employees in the local administration and public enterprises founded by the municipality of Rožaje, will be jobless. President of the municipality of Rožaje, Ejup Nurković, said that it is a really painful process but also necessary for the consolidation of finances. It is one of the measures within the rehabilitation of local finances program that was adopted by the local parliament.
“Since the surplus of employees was designated as the main „culprit“ for the budget deficit, we think that the rationalization of the number of employees through the rearrangement of the local administration authorities represents a priority task. By the end of the year, the number of employees will reduce by 25%”, says Nurković.
According to him, along with internal savings, the municipality will need Government’s help.
“The rearrangement of the local administration authorities had already started and it includes suspension of specific services or their affiliation to other secretariats and other services. That further implies systematization of jobs, in order to create legal space for the reduction of the number of employees in the local administration. However, despite all the efforts and the measures we undertake, we’ll need the help of the Government and its institutions. We made it clear in the rehabilitation program what kind of assistance we need”, said Nurković.
