The Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) began its regular seating in Belgrade on Monday. In addition to the regular topics that are to be discussed, SPC’s fleet grabbed people’s attention. As it was the case previous years, when it comes to their cars, bishops cannot cite modesty, Belgrade-based Telegraf news portal writes.

Late Patriarch Pavle spoke about bishops and their love for luxury, as evidenced by his biography “Let’s be Humans”.

Namely, once when the Patriarch saw a lot of black luxury cars in front of the Patriarchate, he asked a deacon: “Whose are these care?”  After he got the answer “They belong to our bishops, your holiness. They came to the assembly sitting”, the Patriarch remarked: “Oh! Good Lord, what would have happened if they had not made a vow of humility?”

During the previous assembly sittings, bishops were very sensitive to the question which car they drive, arguing that these questions were inapposite.

However, this time some of them parked their cars away from the Patriarchate building, just to seem as if they do not drive luxury cars.
