Hoteliers and issuer of private accommodation are faced with enormous problems this summer. Coastal towns were deserted until the beginning of June. There are currently around 3.000 registered guests in Ulcinj, only 10% compared with the same period last year.

Opening borders – encouragement

Every year, scores of tourists from Albania, Kosovo and other countries visit Ulcinj and closing borders to these countries led to a drop in visitors.

However, representatives of TO Ulcinj told CdM they “are encouraged with the decision on opening borders to region countries”.

“Some hotels are full already. Hopefully, this trend will continue in September”, they said.

Preparations for 2021 season are under way

The consequences of the coronavirus crisis in tourism will be only known at the beginning of next year.

“What we know now is that terrorism, wars, security threats, tsunami, SARS or ebola epidemic have provoked such complications in tourism trends”, they said.

They believe that the only direction to move is forward.
