Opening ceremony of the Montenegrin pavilion at the 16th Architecture Biennial

Montenegrin Pavilion – Emerging Resilience Wo/Man Under Umbrella opened last night on the occasion of the 16th International Architectural Exhibition in the palace Malipiero in Venice.

Sonja Radović- Jelovac, the curator of this year’s exhibition, said that Biennial offered incredible possibilities to present architecture in many different ways.

The project of presenting Montenegro was conceived as a research platform which gathers a team around the topic “Free space”, and with sub-topic “Emerging Resilience”. The objective is to understand the principle of resilience through different modules; through systematic thinking and process-oriented approaches.

She also announced the opening of many workshops, tribunes and conferences which will be organized in the next six months.

The concept of the Montenegrin exhibition reinterprets resilience through the symbol of an endemic flower  – the program of the exhibition metaphorically pictures Montenegro, its ecological component comprised in the subject „Emerging resilience“ with strong symbolism and and dynamic communication with the surroundings.

There are three interconnected parts of the 16th Biennial in Venice  – BOOK, EXHIBITION AND NETWORKING. Each one of them deals with the subject of the Biennial in its own, comprehensive way. Together they act as a vital framework which supports open discussion on the subject outside and inside the real pavilion.

This year, Architecture Biennial will take place from May 26, to November 25 of 2018. This well- known international architectural exhibition is considered to be the most important place where trends of contemporary culture of a country are presented.
