Head of the Police Directorate’s criminal department Milovan Pavicevic and assistant director of securing persons and facilities sector Predrag Asanin resigned, CdM and Dnevne Novine newspapers unofficially learns.

“It remains to be seen whether the director will agree and what the minister will decide,” CdM’s source from police said.

The two officials filed their resignations a day after the car blast that killed Djordje Sekulovic and seriously injured his companion Jelena Korac.

This has been the third car explosion in Podgorica in the last month.

Marko Martinovic (38) from Podgorica (police regard him a person of interest; he has worked as a bodyguard to Jovica Vukotic, the leader of so-called Skaljari clan from Kotor) was injured in a car explosion in the Vasa Raickovica street in Podgorica on 19 December last year.

Ten days later, Miloje Vojinovic from Pljevlja died when his Toyota car exploded while he was driving. The accident happened near the Krivi bridge in Podgorica. After the explosion, the car crashed into the Moraca river. Police found one kilogram of military explosives near the vehicle.

However, when asked to comment on this issue, prime minister Dusko Markovic said that the “security situation in Montenegro is excellent”.

He stated this after a meeting with NGO sector representatives. PM did not answer other journalists’ questions.
