Pazin optimistic: We expect to open the remaining chapters this year

Pažin

Deputy prime minister Zoran Pazin expects 2018 to be the year when Montenegro will open all remaining negotiating chapters.

Today, Pazin met with the ambassadors of EU member states and head of the European Union Delegation in Podgorica. He said that Montenegro would strongly direct the energy of the entire society to further reforms towards the successful conclusion of negotiations with the European Union.

“By the results achieved so far and quality fulfilment of provisional benchmarks in the field of rule of law, Montenegro will deserve to receive the final criteria for the final closure of the negotiation process in key chapters 23 and 24,” Pazin believes.

Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, ambassador Aivo Orav, congratulated Montenegro on the good neighbourly approach, which made a significant contribution to the positive resolution of the border demarcation issue between Montenegro and Kosovo.

“This approach of Montenegro is precisely the model of regional cooperation policy that the European Union wishes to affirm through the new EU Enlargement Strategy,” he added.
