Popa: New Govt. should restore political and institutional trust

Popa

The Ambassador of the European Union to Montenegro, Oana Cristina Popa, has welcomed the formation of the new government in Montenegro, and she expects that it will restore the political and institutional trust that the country needs.

“We look forward to working with all political actors and institutions in implementing EU-related reforms, in a constructive spirit and in line with the huge expectations of Montenegrin citizens to make progress in the EU accession process. We very much appreciate Montenegro’s consistent result of 100% compliance with the EU’s common foreign and security policy, and we are looking forward to Montenegro continuing to stand on the same side with the EU”, Popa has tweeted.

Brussels also welcomes the announcement that the new government’s strategic priority is to speed up the country’s EU accession negotiations by strengthening the rule of law and implementing economic reforms, with a focus on fighting corruption, more sustainable economic development and environmental protection.
