Priests of SOC and DF functionaries send chauvinistic messages

Scandalous messages echoed the assembly organized recently by advocates of the opposition and Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro. Video recording  released by CdM shows a small group of people and priests of SOC, head of the cabinet of the former president of the Municipality of Budva, Mr Marko Bato Carević, Mr Nikola Jovanović from Democratic Front, even a gusle player…

If they hadn’t started singing song called “Od glave Zete do grada Spuža” ,nothing would have been so strange. But this song calls for killing of Turks and glorifies Serbs.

Text of the sons roughly translates as follows:

“From the head of Zeta TO Spuž town,
Bloody chain of army stretches.
Serbs have put Turkish meadows under strain
Turks in Spuž are in pain.
Serdar Vule from the high tower
turns the jefferdar on while bulls are whining.
Turks howling, bulls whining
Here’s Vule, oh no, oh no
Serdar Janko waving his sabre
Strike, brothers, Serbdom is ours!”

This is not the first time that this song is sang at such gatherings.

After opposition declared victory in parliamentary elections held on Sunday, and its leaders, Mr Dritan Abazović, Mr Aleksa Bečić and Mr Zdravko Krivokapić claim that minority nations in Montenegro are not endangered.  However, latest events in several Montenegrin towns indicate otherwise.

Premises of the Islamic community in Pljevlja were stoned this morning. Physical and verbal attacks on Bosniaks in Pljevlja and Rožaje were reported yesterday. Graffiti displaying offensive and nationalistic messages are featured in the streets, tricolors are fluttering everywhere…

Although Mr Abazović, Mr Bečić and Mr Krivokapić call for peace and keep ensuring that everybody’s safe, seems like their appeals are falling on deaf ears.

“These events are warning for the whole society. This nationalistic and chauvinistic hysteria has to be stopped”, Bosniak party representative said.
