Process blocking or EU sanctions not on the table

Ana Novaković-Đurović

The Minister of European Affairs, Ana Novakovic Djurovic, has told TVCG that any official blocking of the process of accession to the European Union (EU) or sanctions by Brussels in relation to Montenegro are not on the agenda.

“We are encouraged that we have received clear information that any official blocking of the process or sanctions in relation to Montenegro are not on the agenda. And what is also a fact and the second part of that message is that the solution lies in Montenegro”, Novakovic Djurovic says.

Member of the European Parliament Thomas Weiss points out that the main demand of Brussels is for the Constitutional Court to be operational.

“It is very important for the accession process and we urge all political actors in Montenegro to resolve it as soon as possible, because when they do we will get involved again”, Weiss concludes.
