Illegal weapons, including banned and dangerous firearm, are being illegally sold to online shoppers on Facebook, Dan has learned.
Facebook marketplace for selling/buying goods from all parts of Montenegro recently put up for sale a heckler and there were several photos of it attached by a seller. However, this is not the first case of online firearm sale. The fact is that online shoppers may find various guns worth several hundreds of euros, and those costing even more. It is always about selling the illegal weapons used for almost all criminal offences, esp. murders.
So far, it’s unknown whether the relevant authorities have ever detained any individual selling the illegal firearms.
Velimir Rakocevic, a criminologist, explained the state should be worried about the data indicating the illegal weapons’ availability on social media, esp. due to fact that almost all murders were committed by using an illegally purchased weapon. He noted that it’s feasible to identify sellers of illegal weapons if an advertisement is published via an account originating from Montenegro.
