Radulović: Montenegro’s tourism offer is no worse than Monaco’s

Žarko Radulović

Co-owner of the Montenegro Stars Hotel Group and president of the Montenegrin Tourism Association (CTU), Žarko Radulović, in an interview with CdM told Montenegro’s tourism offer is no worse than Monaco’s but also warned about certain issues such as the one with the taxi drivers. According to him, our country will be facing the lack of workforce again and it’s only pointless Law on Foreigners to blame for this.

Speaking about Budva’s infrastructure, he had only one thing to say – Budva represents the core of Montenegrin tourism.

“You have some well-developed and some poorly developed metropolises. Those poorly developed are still metropolises but some services there costs EUR 2 while in those better-developed EUR 6. Right now, Montenegro’s tourism offer is no worse than Monaco’s or the one in Paris.”

Radulović also added that Budva has to restrict issuing taxi licenses. “Now you have the situation of having 500-600 taxis in Budva and no more than 200 is needed. It’s better for the city to have 200 taxi cars working in accordance with the law.”

As for the lack of workforce, he said: “We will be facing lack of workforce and there are several reasons for that. Montenegro citizens are not ready to work for a salary lower than EUR 1,000 or EUR 500 and we are not capable of providing these sums. I won’t say we are lazy sacks but we are overestimating our work.”

He also believes Montenegro lacks professional workforce.

Radulović continued: “This year’s revenues will exceed EUR 1 billion. We are moving forward and in order to maintain continuity, we have to remain safe and stable. Actually, we are for now but I’m afraid that could change which would be our end.”
