Radulovic to retire: Secretly asked for severance pay

Radulović

Democratic Front (DF) MP Branko Radulovic requested the severance pay from Parliament, as he is about to retire. He is receiving the highest MP salary – it amounted to €1,896 in May 2017.

The Administrative Committee of what he once called the “illegitimate Parliament, boycotted by the opposition” approved the severance pay for Radulovic yesterday.

However, the communication between Radulovic and the committee ahead of the yesterday’s meeting reveals that the DF MP insisted on issuing the decision on severance pay by default in order for his request not to become public and thus a subject for media manipulations, Dnevne Novine writes.

Namely, in addition to necessary documents, just before the sitting, Radulovic sent a letter to the Administrative Committee conditionally withdrawing his request if it was discussed at the sitting.

“Your very intention to put the issue on the agenda as a separate item, to inform the whole public about my legal right, to discuss it and vote about it at the session would represent an attempt to discredit me publicly and make me a subject of various media manipulations,” MP Radulovic wrote.

However, the Administrative Committee chairman Luigj Shkrelja said at the sitting that his work in Parliament, as well as the work of the Administrative Committee, would always be public, and all the acts the Committee dealt with would be made available to the public, in accordance with the law.

After that the committee noted that Radulovic’s request was in accordance with the Law on Salaries of Public Sector Employees and the General Collective Agreement and decided that he should receive a severance pay of three minimum net wages due to retirement.

Now when Radulovic’s request has been made public, it is not known whether the MP will take the approved severance pay and what he intends regarding his future engagement.
