Rakčević: If it’s not an experts government, I won’t back it

Speaking in a show titled ‘Interview’ on the public broadcaster RTCG, the President of the Political Council of the Civic Movement URA, Mr Žarko Rakčević, said that he was not going to back the government comprising politicians and if the identity issues and other interests were to become the top priority.

According to him, an experts government is the best solution and it won’t be good if it comprises all leaders of the blocs that make up the new parliamentary majority.

Mr Rakčević recalled that in the election campaign URA was insisting on the experts not patriotic government.

“We meant on the government comprising experts, with a limited mandate. The point was to create conditions for fair elections.”

The elections held on 30 August, he added, were not democratic and citizens should be provided with a possibility to express themselves freely.

URA’s Political Council woos the orientation of the management to pursue the concept of an ‘experts government’, made up of competent people.

“I don’t think it’s good to have a government which would include all leaders of these three coalitions,” Mr Rakčević noted.

He’s satisfied with the peaceful change of power in Montenegro and believes that it’s going to be new normal in the future.

Mr Rakčević also said he had no intention of going back to politics. However, he’s interested in the directions Montenegro is going to take and expects the new government to be formed by mid-November.

On Mr Dritan Abazović’s change of views when it comes to the composition of the government, he noted that the leader of the Civic Movement URA, at the sessions of the Council, was telling that it was going to be the government of experts.

“Normally, politicians can be experts in certain areas. The point is that some of them are experts. We are not alone in this, there are two other blocs that perceive things differently.”

Serbian Orthodox Church meddles in politics

Asked to comment on the relations between the Serbian Orthodox Church and Montenegro in terms of the formation of a new government, he said he was an atheist, but respected every right of a citizen.

‘Serbian World’ didn’t win in the elections

Mr Rakčević reiterated that the URA Political Council insisted on the government of experts.

“Right now, I don’t know what the composition of the new government will be. If it’s not going to the experts one, I personally will vote against it. We promised the citizens the experts government. If they start to dismantle Montenegro, not the system, I’ll definitely be against.”
