The average Montenegrin citizen 15 years of age or older drinks 6.6 liters of pure alcohol, the World Health Organization, WHO, suggests. As for the region, Serbs’ relation with booze is not the healthiest one – they drink even 9.1 liters per capita per year.

Citizens of Albania hold the third place, i.e. they consume 4.5 liters on average per year, while citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina drink half a liter less.

Macedonians have the lowest alcohol consumption – only 1.1 liter per capita.

Lithuania is by no means the world’s country with the biggest dependence on alcohol – the average citizen consumes 15.2 liters of pure alcohol annually. And the most abstinent country? Unsurprisingly, it’s Tajikistan, where an average citizen drinks just 300 ml of pure alcohol a year.
