Russia’s hybrid warfare likely to hit Montenegro

Darko Trifunović

Russia will begin a new war against Montenegro via Serbian media reports, individuals and criminal gangs, Darko Trifunović, a security expert, told CdM.

According to him, the new scenario is going to be much worse than the 2016 one. He said: “Russia is turning to a hybrid warfare against Montenegro and this time there won’t be arms but much worse. It will try to provoke conflict between Montenegro’s leader Milo Đukanović and prime minister Duško Marković, and then alienate both with director of the National Police. Therefore, Leonid Reshetnjikov and his team won’t leave you alone. Russia will use media reports, various stories and criminal gangs in order to destabilize the state’s national security.”

For the past 2 years, Montenegro has had the opportunity to learn about Reshetnjikov, the outspokenly hawkish head of a Kremlin-backed thinktank, whom Putin fired few days after the alleged coup attempt in ME.
