The Social Democratic Party of Montenegro, SDP, urged the President of the Municipality of Kotor, Mr Vladimir Jokić, and his party, the Democratic Montenegro, to back call for the municipal referendum by 23 April. The SDP directly invited the Democratic Montenegro to find the solution for overcoming the political crisis in Kotor.
According to this party [SDP], they have been determined to stop further devastation in this city which would certainly happen if only they allowed upgrading of shore (Luža) for mega yachts in the bay zone.
The SDP said: “We strongly believe that violation of a city’s fundamental legislation, especially the Law on Natural and Cultural Heritage Protection on the territory of Kotor, is inadmissible for any local community and the government which allows that.”
The construction works at the gate of the Old Town exceed authorities of any government and represent one of the most important issues that the Kotor residents must decide upon on the referendum, the SPD said loud and clear.
