Sehovic: Junk food out of Podgorica schools

Damir Šehović

Unhealthy food and beverages will be excluded from schools in Podgorica, says the education minister Damir Sehovic.

He calls to mind that in 2016, student snack was introduced in Podgorica schools and adds that it was innovated in cooperation with the Public Health Institute.

Now, the plan is to “push out” all unhealthy food in general from school yards.

“The Ministry of Education will no longer give consent to the owners to sell such types of food in kiosks in in front of schools and in school yards, wherever they can be replaced by a higher quality and healthier food. And now we have better quality food through production of the Sergije Stanic high school, which now offers students’ snacks and can offer similar or expanded assortment in school yards,” education minister Damir Sehovic told CdM.
