Significant increase in the total foreign trade of Montenegro

According to the official data provided by the Statistical Office of Montenegro – MONSTAT, the total foreign trade of  Montenegro in the last year amounted about 2, 68 billion EUR, which is 12 % higher than in 2016.

As the data indicate, last year Montenegro mostly exported aluminum (71,9 million EUR), bauxite (669 million EUR)  and wood  (28,9 million EUR). The exported goods’worth is around 371,5 million EUR – 14 % higher in comparison to 2016.

The import boosted as well; it amounted 2,3 billion EUR, which is 11,7 % higher than in 2016. Mostly machines and transportation devices are included in the import structure. However, the data show that last year Montenegro mostly imported oil and its derivatives.

The largest foreign trade partners were Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary whereas  in the import, Serbia, China and Germany were dominant.
