Sixteen children in eleven foster families

The promotion of the campaign “Every child needs family” was held yesterday at Dvorski trg, in Cetinje.

There are currently 11 foster families in Cetinje, and they have welcomed 16 children. One of them is the family of Ljubica Strugar from Rijeka Crnojevića who has 4 children. Twelve years ago, she decided to become foster parent to a boy called Boban.

“Boban is 17 now. He was five when we took him with us. It was all a coincidence. My daughter met Boban in Podgorica, when he visited pediatric department. It was God’s will. I don’t feel like a foster parent, I feel  like a real parent and that’s the most beautiful thing somebody can do for a neglected child. I can’t understand why people avoid that. We don’t need any kind of social help if we accept that child as our own. It’s not about the money. Those kids need love”, says Strugar.

Psychologist of the Center for social Welfare, Milica Krivokapić, said that the role of fostering is not easy at all. However, it’s definitely reflection of utmost humanity and human sublimity.

“If somebody wants to become a foster parent, it is necessary to submit request to the Center for Social Welfare, along with the documentation stipulated by the Law. After that, future foster parents go through a training since the children are usually those who lack the sense of identity. The parents are constantly provided with adequate advisory and psychological help so that the children can have overall development”, says Krivokapić.
