Smoke has blanketed a part of the Bay of Kotor since last night. This morning it has spread from Tivat to the Herceg-Novi coast.

The Civil Protection and Rescue Service states there is no fire in the Herceg Novi area, but that fires near Bigovo and Lovanja villages has lasted for two days.

The Tivat field, from the roundabout to the city centre, has been covered with smoke since last night and the unpleasant smells can also be felt, Radio Tivat reports. According to unofficial information, the cause of the fire is the burning of tires and cables in Lovanja, which belongs to the Kotor municipality. This type of fire cannot be extinguished with water, but with sand.

Smoke with unpleasant smells is spreading, carried by the wind, which causes anxiety among the tourists who think that the fire is somewhere nearby.

The Environmental Protection Agency and relevant inspectorate should respond. Despite reduced visibility, planes from the Tivat airport were unhindered this morning.
