Sonigo: They brought the “Skadar lake” down to one fifth

Porto Skadar Lake

“Montenegro Resort” company, in charge for the construction of “Porto Skadar lake”, is worried about the proposed solutions of the Spatial plan draft, specially intended for the purposes of the National park “Skadarsko jezero”, which is at public hearing, said the president of the company, Lionel Sonigo.

“The proposed scenario planned the implementation of the project “Porto Skadar lake” on 10 – 20 % of the planned zone. That means elimination of the resort from the new draft. Bringing the whole project, 160 million EUR worth, to this level is absolutely unsustainable and unprofitable”, said Sonigo.

He wondered according to what criteria somebody can plan the tourist complex in this region and then decide to almost erase it. He added that the capacities of “Porto Skadar lake” complex aren’t as big as to receive 600 people as it has been presented.

“The complex will have 51 apartment for maximum 110 people, as well as 30 villas predicted to accommodate maximum eight persons per villa. If we reach 100% of the occupancy, that will be a total of 350 people, which is almost two times less than the number which is being manipulated with” ,says Sonigo.

This is the only foreign investment on the territory of Cetinje which would provide between 200 and 300 jobs for the local population. Residents of this region fully support the project since it can bring benefits to everyone. Sonigo believes that the state institutions will keep creating conditions for the needs of the new investment.
