Special relationship still lives on between RS&ME

Čedomir Jovanović

In his interview with Pobjeda daily, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Serbia, Čedomir Jovanović, told it’s a high time we turned a new page, devoted to good neighborly relations and prosperity in every single sense, and also finally forgot the fatal Russian influence in Balkan region. Jovanović underlined that the existing relations between Montenegro and Serbia need to be strengthened.

Commenting on the recent statements of Patriarch Irinej and Serbian ministers Dačić, Popović and Vulin, Jovanović said: “We can often those puppets singing their own sad songs on their political failures and inabilities to accept the fact that Serbs and Montenegrins have been partners, friends, brothers and sisters. No one can change that! I firmly believe that we must cherish our relations even better.”

Nato membership represented a crucial element of regional security, according to Jovanović.

He said: “Montenegro has made a big step forward toward its democracy and citizens’ safety. Luckily, Serbia hasn’t had any serious safety challenges so far.”

Changing borders in the Western Balkans would be a fatal mistake. “It’s one of the core security principles. However, maybe we should hear about proposals and reasonable explanations and then have talks. Kosovo is a unique case and the region must be our closest ally,” added he.
