The current Podgorica mayor Slavoljub Migo Stijepovic will be the list leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) in the local elections in Podgorica on 27 May. However, he will not be a candidate for the second term at that post, because he will take over some of the ministries in the Dusko Markovic’s cabinet, CdM learns.
“Stjepovic will most likely be the leader of the list in the elections, but not the candidate for mayor. After the expiry of his term of office, he will most likely take over one of the departments in the government,” claims a CdM’s source, who could not specify which ministry he will be the head of.
It is unknown who will succeed Stijepovic. There are speculations that current deputy mayor Caslav Vesovic is the most likely candidate for the future mayor of Podgorica.
