Tax Administration to write off €300 million in debt

Tax Administration will soon submit a precise analysis of tax debts to the Ministry of Finance. Rough estimates suggest that the amount is between €250 and 300 million.

Only after the analysis, the precise amount of unpaid debt will be known.

“This debt consists of liabilities for which the tax obligation stopped being in force. We need to reverse these debts, especially those that pertain to bankruptcies concluded in the Commercial Court”, TA stated.

They said that the current legislation does not define the write off of tax debt, but that the Tax Administration Law defines criteria and conditions for cessation of tax obligation.

TA stated that the existing legislation enables them to take measures, but that it is important to consult and coordinate with the Ministry of Finance.
