Ten to Eight – Hurting Performance

You are reading a daily contextual review of the news that marked the previous day.

By Ljubomir Filipovic, CdM observer

No one expected such a hysterical uniform reaction of the parties in power and the government regarding the performance, which paid tribute to the victims of the pandemic, but also pointed the finger at those responsible for whose decisions we have so many sick and infected people today. Starting from the newly appointed hospital officials who stood in front of the camera and read a text prepared in advance, to the reactions of Dragan Krapovic from the Democrats, who insulted the protesters and Goran Djurovic from URA, who starred Minister Borovinic Bojovic – it all looked distasteful and primitive.

These reactions proved one thing – that the organizers of the protest hit a neuralgic point and that this should continue. We do not need mass protests to point to their ignorance and undemocratic nature. We need this kind of well-planned and focused performance.

Cooperation between URA and DPS

The vote on the amendments to the Law on Internal Affairs, which refer to the articles of that act defining the rights, obligations, responsibilities and the termination of the mandate of the director of police, passed almost unnoticed in Parliament on Friday.

Is this an announcement of a new collaboration? Why did URA and DPS agree on this cooperation and what is behind this agreement to support the DPS initiative? Will the Prime Minister dismiss the director of the Police, Brdjanin, so with this decision he is trying to block the election of the future director? These are all questions to which few have answers.

Another DF ultimatum

It is ridiculous to mention these ultimatums of theirs. As in the joke “don’t defend me like that anymore”, DF once again challenges Abazovic and URA. On Friday, Milan Knezevic announced that the DF would offer the last platform for overcoming the crisis today, and that it would be a package – the election of a new government and overcoming all social divisions and crises.

Selective compliance with measures

Sasa Zekovic, who was the target of attacks by politicians, bots and Zeljko Ivanovic because of his speech at the mentioned protest, told the authorities that instead of investing enormous energy in attacks on those protesting, they should start a consistent showdown with violations of measures. He referred yesterday to the arrest of the owners of wedding salons in Niksic and informed the public about the information that the celebrations were not suspended, with the suspicion that the iconography and flags of the Serbian Orthodox Church were a kind of immunity from being forced to respect the prescribed measures. After Zekovic’s announcement, the police reacted and confirmed his claims.

In addition to wedding festivities, mass gatherings in churches where measures are not respected continue.

Prime Minister’s presentation and Spajic’s auctions

Spajic promised a 1,000-euro salary at the end of his term. And how will that happen – by reducing the budget for the implementation of important policies.

And we will come to that with concrete things, so today we should send the presentation of Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic at 12 o’clock when he will present the Europe Now program at the Music Center, when the Government Investment Plan and Capital Budget for next year will be presented.

There will certainly be balloons and confetti, infographics and promotional materials. And whether there will be concrete information and methods remains to be seen.

FCJK protest on Wednesday

The Faculty of Montenegrin Language and Culture (FCJK) has not received funds for work for three months, and we know from before that they withdrew their security, and that the students are guarding the building of the Austro-Hungarian embassy in Cetinje.

The Dean of the Faculty of Montenegrin Language and Literature, Adnan Cirgic, announced that a protest would be organized on Wednesday, 24 November, due to the current Government’s attitude towards that higher education institution.

That’s it for today. See you again tomorrow at the same time, in the same place.
