Interview with Nemanja Batrićević

Read yesterday’s interview that everyone is talking about. The young Montenegrin scientist, Mr Nemanja Batrićević, caused a storm of mixed reactions with his speeches at several after-election gatherings. While some praise him to the skies, others say that he divided the already deeply divided Montenegrin society. Read here who Nemanja Batrićević is and how he sees his new fame.

Competency or loyalty

The Prime Minister is still trying to convince us that they respect the program principles and that the competency of the candidates is the main criterion for filling the posts in the public administration. Some of us, who have kept a watchful eye on the new government, and noting every mistake they make just to prove us right being pessimistic, now have an easy job to condemn them for staffing so far. Competency was in most cases a secondary category, and one of the most drastic examples of this is perhaps the latest staffing in the already compromised healthcare system.

The things are similar with the National Parks (NP), where Ms Marina Jočić, who was previously appointed the head of the NP Board of Directors, was joined by her coalition partner from the DNP, Ms Jelena Kljajević. While URA is giving its blessing to all this, it seems as if a perfect storm is being prepared for the chapel on Lovćen, in Lovćen NP.

New old-school nepotism

The Dan spoke with civil society activists about the new government’s staffing solutions. While Mr Boris Raonić from the Civic Alliance expects this government to be more sensitive to criticism from civil society, some others, like Džemal Perović and Dejan Milovac are much more explicit in their criticism of the first examples of party-based employment.

Dritan gave employment to his party-mates

Saving Filip Adžić mission is successfully completed, and he was appointed an advisor to his party-boss. Along with Adžić, Mr Abazović’s office will also include Ms Ana Rašović, former president of the URA Youth, and Miloš Perišić, a historian from Cetinje and an actor in URA’s election videos. More and more activists and sympathizers of the URA are publicly expressing their dissatisfaction with the party-based employments of the most loyal people in the party. A good part of the URA’s campaign was reduced to the promotion of competency. That is why day by day, more and more people are withdrawing their support for their “Black on White” election platform, which has remained a dead letter.

Montenegro Airlines, consequences

We are sometimes engaged in trivia so much that we forget the vital things. Will someone’s incompetence, for example, take someone else to a precarious existence?

“Dear All, while you are dealing with the logo of the new airline, advanced financial derivatives, and marketing on social networks, 250 people who are not part of the flight operation, out of a total of 350 employees, together with their families are quickly slipping into the worst social status,” reads the letter sent to Montenegro’s Government by the MA Pilots Association. They blame the government for the lack of communication and empathy and ask them to establish effective communication as a matter of urgency and to resolve the labor and social status of Montenegro Airlines employees as soon as possible.

Celebration of the “Serbian” New Year’s Eve paid by freedom

It seems that litanies will not stop with the passing of the amendments to the law. Every religious holiday will become an excuse for someone to go out to the streets and harry citizens with nationalist slogans and songs. Although it seemed that the police withdrew toward Konik, they managed to identify and arrest the actors of the video that was circulating on social networks these days.

Serbia appropriated Stana Tomašević

The official Twitter account of Serbian diplomacy posted a tweet stating that Stana Tomašević, a Yugoslav and Montenegrin partisan and diplomat, is in fact a Serbian diplomat. In English and using the hashtag #genderequality. After the sharp reactions of the Montenegrin public, our Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reacted, emphasizing the fact that Stana was a Montenegrin, born and raised in Bar.

So much for today, but also for this week. We wish you a pleasant weekend and see you on Monday.
