Ten to Eight – PM Not Giving Up

Good morning! Prof. Krivokapic will not give up without a fight; DPS, minority parties and the rest of the opposition supported the removal of the government; the American embassy expressed concern over the election of Niksic priest in the University steering committee; Dusko Knezevic negotiated on Meljine with PM’s daughter; insulting graffiti written on a church in Podgorica.

The Prime Minister is not giving up

PM Zdravko Krivokapic held a press conference yesterday. Alone, almost without support in the Parliament, he is not giving up while everyone who hugged him until almost yesterday are leaving him. DF is leaving him because he left them a long time ago. SNP, too. He was the holder of the list for both of them. He is left with only Marko Milacic and the Democrats. Since the Prime Minister made analogies with marriages – both mistresses and women, here’s one mine: the Prime Minister left the marriage called For the Future of Montenegro a year ago, because of the younger and more attractive URA, and now the younger and more attractive URA has found a more agile and younger sponsor, and the old professor has been left without a warm home and without a new love. A cliché story that always ends the same way. The host tries to get back home.

I honestly think he’s a decent man, and that the stories about alcohol and ridicule are exaggerated. He comes from an ideologically distant story for me, but he tried to implement his policy in a decent way. He employed his own people, pleased the Serbian church, and gave a little to each of his partners. At times, he managed to resist the pressure from Belgrade, and even the pressure from the church, although he reacted strongly where he could. Like in Cetinje on 5 September. However, when the line is drawn, this man was not extreme, as is the case with some of his colleagues.

But if he was immune to the temptations that power and fame bring, the members of his political story, friends and family members were not immune. Minor corruption quickly grows into a serious story and the focus shifts from change and political struggle to meeting the needs of those closest to you. The political partners endure all this until a certain point of time, and then they finally turn their backs.

The Prime Minister is now using the rhetoric of a betrayed and powerless partner and shouting “fraud” by drawing inappropriate parallels with examples of alleged political corruption from the past, hoping to trigger discontent and rebellion among citizens. However, he will not be able to do that without the people’s tribunes, who are the only ones in that bloc that can motivate the masses, who are now busy cheering over the conflict on the Abazovic-Krivokapic line and are looking at the situation very nonchalantly for now.

The Prime Minister also tried to sow the seeds of doubt about the unity of the SNP, but Jokovic immediately denied this and said that the MPs of that party would appear together in the press today.

Today, URA explained the priorities of the minority government, using the opportunity to point out that they are ready to conclude the Fundamental Agreement with the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The entire parliamentary opposition pointed out its support for URA’s initiative, although the DPS did not explicitly support the story about the minority government in a statement last night, which is difficult at the moment, because no one knows what the minority government will look like. The only strong dissonant tone among the opposition came from 21. Maj Civic Initiative, in the reaction of Miko Zivkovic, who said that Montenegro does not need a “minority, but a technical government”.

US Embassy on Niksic priest in the University Steering Committee

The US Embassy said it was concerned about the recent appointment to the Steering Committee of the University of Montenegro (UCG).

“The United States is concerned about the recent appointment to the Steering Committee of the University of Montenegro. For the advancement of civil society in Montenegro, independent institutions that serve the public interest, such as a state university, should not be unduly influenced by any religious community”, the US Embassy wrote on Twitter.

Position in the expert government – the PM’s daughter

The owner of the Atlas Group, Dusko Knezevic, who was a participant in the privatization of Meljine Hospital, said that his compensation claim was €74m, adding that he did not discuss the arbitration with PM Zdravko Krivokapic but with his daughter, who is an expert in the field, RTCG portal has carried the news.

Offensive graffiti on a church in Podgorica

The message of inappropriate content was written on the Church of the Ascension of the Lord next to the Temple of Christ’s Resurrection in Podgorica. The head of the Temple of Christ’s Resurrection in Podgorica, archpriest-stavrophore Dragan Mitrovic, informed the police and municipal police about the vandalism, which conducted an investigation.

That’s it for today. We wish you a pleasant rest of the day.

Kind regards,
