Ten to Eight – What after elections in Cetinje, Mojkovac and Petnjica?

Good morning! Everybody’s acting as if they won the elections – Becic offers to form a coalition with the SDP in Cetinje, the Democratic Front (encouraged by the results in Mojkovac) again undermines the government. What does the more and more aggressive Serbia’s armament mean for the region? These are some of the topics we’re going to discuss today.

I recommend you to read my answer to Andrej Nikolaidis. This text and the one he posted several days ago were the top stories over the past seven days.

What after the elections in Cetinje, Mojkovac and Petnjica?

The election results were a reason for celebration of all parties and everyone’s declaring victory. Numbers are added and subtracted according to needs, and everyone presents statistics suggesting that they are the winners of the election. During the celebration of URA in Cetinje, the leader of their list, Slavko Jankovic, said that they were “the moral winners”. If there is a cliché the people use to self-soothe themselves, then it’s this kind of self-proclamation for moral winners. Everyone seems to know the recipe for presenting the defeat as a victory to the public. More about that in the comprehensive analysis of the elections the CdM editorial board prepared for you.

Aleksa Becic is offering a coalition to the SDP in Cetinje, and URA has done the same. They say “the opposition won in Cetinje”, and they’re not lying. Until recently, the SDP was the opposition at the local level. But any experimentation and the formation of an expert, concentration administration in Cetinje would be very risky for the SDP. Especially having in mind their experiments in Tivat, and in Budva, where Carevic is still in charge of finances.

Continuation of DF’s attacks on the govt

DF MP Milun Zogovic, as an epic hero, failed in his attempt to display the tricolor, but his party used the result of the Mojkovac election, which is twice as strong as the Democrats, to start provocations against the government again. First, Budva MP Milo Bozovic sent a vague message about supporting laws related to changing tax policy. Then Branko Radulovic said that the Prime Minister must be from the DF. Finally, there’s an interview with Nebojsa Medojevic for Vecernje Novosti, when he said that after December 10, if they do not receive a positive answer from URA about the new government, they’ll start the initiative for holding new elections. Nothing will happen after December 10, but the DF will continue to rock this ship with torn sails, a disoriented helmsman and a captain with a bottle, who sits locked in the cabin, acting as if everything’s fine.

Presentation of the government work results with no reporters, but still with them

The Government of Montenegro will present today its work results to mark the first year of its work. First it was announced that reporters would not be able to ask questions, but then they changed their minds.

After the presentation, a cocktail party will be held. The presentation will start at noon.

Should we worry about Serbia’s weapons?

In an interview with Danas, an analyst from Washington, Janusz Bugajski, speaks about the Summit for Democracy, which is being held in the American capital at the end of Sunday, and comments on the fact that Serbia was finally invited to the event. We remind you that initially it was not planned for Serbia to participate. “It was decided to call for several backward democracies because they are important allies and because their exclusion from the summit would send a negative signal of disinterest or neglect,” Bugajski said. When asked about Serbia’s weapons, Bugajski, among other things, said that Serbia’s smaller neighbors should not only be worried, but also reconsider their defense attitudes and military capabilities.

That’s all for today. Have a nice day.

Best regards,

Ljubomir Filipovic, CdM observer
