Good morning! What is DPS to URA?

URA fled from the deep embrace of the Serbian Orthodox Church to an even bigger embrace of the DPS. As time goes by, we are more and more aware of their willingness to sacrifice their principles for each of their new connections/coalitions. Due to the coalition with the Serbian Orthodox Church, they were ready to tolerate Leposavic, who was eventually replaced by Krivokapic himself, they were ready to call the behavior of the police at Belvedere professional, to tolerate Bratic, to elect Bozovic as chancellor of the University and give interviews and exclusive information for IN4S and Borba. It will be interesting to see all the things that they will be ready for because of the coalition with the DPS.

The first test is the postponement of the elections, which in the opinion of many, including me, is unconstitutional. President Djukanovic also made the postponement of the elections at least problematic, and he returned the law to Parliament. Whether it is a coordinated combination by which the responsibility for violating the Constitution is transferred to Parliament, as Vijesti claims, or Djukanovic’s sincere position, we cannot say.

But Abazovic’s reaction tells us a lot. Wanting to score in the ever-increasing room for maneuver he created for himself, he “criticized” Djukanovic for behaving less and less as DPS leader, probably alluding to rumors from party committees that Djukanovic would retire from politics as a result of an agreement with DPS.

What Abazovic actually did unknowingly with this comment is that he humiliated himself as someone who is ready to violate the Constitution together with the DPS, and that Djukanovic is now behaving like the president of all citizens, who, regardless of the party’s position, impartially and without caring about political interests, cares about the highest legal act.

Tolerant SNP

The SNP was against the election of Sava Kentera, the SNP says they had their own candidate for the post because Dritan promised them that. The SNP is furious because of Ranko Krivokapic’s “Serbophobia”, but they put up with it and attributes it to a diplomatic gaffe. They put up with martyrdom because they have to, in order to “preserve Serbianness” in Montenegro. I would rather say that the SNP cares about its positions and the benefits gained, but some political decisions should be taken into account that could balance this dissatisfaction of the SNP. Like the “Fundamental Agreement”, which is now being harmonized again between the SNP’s minister and the Patriarchate in Belgrade.

Hungry DF

With its extremism, the unfortunate DF reduced itself to a voyeur, who is waiting for crumbs to be thrown from the table. The same thing happened during the Krivokapic-Abazovic government, and it is the same now in the Abazovic-Jokovic-Krivokapic mandate. That is why Milan Knezevic is already boiling like an express pot, he is calling on Milatovic and Spajic to overthrow the government, and he sets about the new ANB director, Savo Kentera.

There is also Slaven Radunovic who says that there will be local elections, at least on 5 June, and if there aren’t any, maybe they will organize something for themselves like in 2001.

Top of the security sector to be heard today

The Security and Defense Committee has decided to hold a control hearing of PM Dritan Abazovic, Police Directorate head Zoran Brdjanin, Chief Special Prosecutor Vladimir Novovic, Chief of the Special Police Department Predrag Sukovic, Interior Minister Filip Adzic and acting ANB director Savo Kentera regarding EUROPOL’s allegations about police officers Petar Lazovic and Ljubo Milovic.

Monastery quarrel

The Carevic brothers are in action again. After the journalists of the Gradska TV, this time the target is, unexpectedly, the clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Take a look at what the incident in the Podlastva Monastery looked like on this link.

Insults and threats

I thought about not writing about this, but I have to. Yesterday, I asked the police to warn Mr. Goran Jovanovic aka Timur Tmurni, who threatened to slap me. There have been thousands of such and similar messages during the last two years, but Mr. Jovanovic is a public official, enthroned as chairman of the board of directors of the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro, and was also a member of the Democrats in Kotor. As a reaction to my report, Jovanovic wrote on Facebook a number of insults against me, which were supported by the mayor of Kotor Vladimir Jokic, director Nikola Vukcevic, Vijesti journalist Nina Vujacic and some other public figures close to the Democrats and the former government.

This is not about me but about hypocrisy in public space. Since the beginning of the religious processions in Montenegro, public space has been poisoned by the most primitive public discourse initiated by supporters of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the then opposition. After there was a reaction and after verbal violence gave birth to verbal violence and after the space for civilized and meaningful dialogue was reduced to a minimum, we still fail to see the problem. We dehumanize political opponents, because we can tell such dehumanized people the worst insults without regretting. Such a manner will not bring us good.

That’s all for today. We wish you a pleasant rest of the day.

Kind regards,

Ljubomir Filipovic, CdM analyst
