Terrible threats against a female student on social networks: Police said they could not help me

Miljana Krivokapić

A student at the Faculty of Political Sciences (FPN) at the University of Montenegro, and a member of the Youth Council of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Ms. Miljana Krivokapić made a report to the Police Administration of brutal threats against her sent from anonymous profiles on Twitter. Ms. Krivokapić told CdM that the police replied that they could not help her because they could not determine who manages the anonymous profiles.

„The threats I receive are based on my nationality and party affiliation. I reported them to the Montenegrin Police Administration in Podgorica, hoping they would help me find out who is behind the anonymous profiles issuing threats. The response from the Police Administration was that they could not help me in discovering the persons behind the profiles“, said Ms. Krivokapić, who is originally from Kotor and studies in Podgorica.

She highlighted that she was aware that others like her face the same or similar problems, but for lack of courage or fear for personal safety, they did not act to prevent them.

“Talking publicly about this, we should indirectly encourage others to do so, and jointly draw attention to the problem we Montenegrins face on social networks due to the current political situation, and how threatened we are by the ‘Serbian people’ on Montenegrin networks”, Ms. Krivokapić concluded in the statement for CdM.
