The Minister’s fear of media

Ministarka prosvjete, nauke kulture i sporta Vesna Bratić

Ever since she became the Minister of education, science, culture and sports, there was no official public statement by Ms Vesna Bratic other than what was issued by her PR office. When asked about the insults she made on the account of a historian Latinka Perovic, she simply stated she does not make public statements.

The fact that there were no media representatives present at the Oktoih award ceremony imposes an answer to the question is Minister Bratic avoiding media coverage.

Epidemic was the reason that was listed in the statement of the Ministry after CdM inquired about the reasons for no media coverage for the ceremony.

“The event was covered by the government bureau and the footage and photos that were sent to media can be found on Flickr account that belongs to the government” stated the PR office.

However, the same day Minister Bratic was present in Bar at the commemoration of the protests  against cutting down the cypress trees in the backyard of Niko Rolovic high school. The event was not reported in advance and by doing so the safety measures for containing the epidemic were breached.

Also, the media were not informed that the Minister will be visiting Bar. Could this be the reason for avoiding media?

The response is also NO after CdM asked will the Minister of the biggest Ministry organize a press conference and present the schedule and program of the Ministry.

As a public official, Ms Vesna Bratic cannot afford the luxury of avoiding speaking in public because the citizens have the right to know what to expect in future when it comes to education, science, culture and sport. All of that should be communicated by no one else other than the Minister herself.
