The police are investigating the threatening letter addressed to Miodrag Vuković

Vuković

Member of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Mr Miodrag Vuković, has given a statement to the police regarding the threatening letter addressed to him from Belgrade. The letter arrived by post to the Montenegrin Parliament. Mr Vuković was told that the police were investigating everything that might have to do with the letter. Even the Interpol has been informed.

As he said, that letter reads that some person from the capital of Serbia has engaged a gang in Nova Varoš whose members are supposed to cross Montenegrin border and hurt Mr Vuković and members of his family.

“I’m not scared but I am worried. While talking to the police officers we came to the conclusion that this has gotten beyond the joke. My views on the processes in the country and in the region are well known. I’ve been MP for 30 years and this isn’t the first time that I’m being a target of attacks”, said Mr Vuković.

The letter arrived last week. Secretary General of the Parliament of Montenegro informed the police right after the letter had reached the Parliament.

“It has been established that he company and the person, allegedly the signatories of the letter, do not exist. Persons from Nova Varoš are being investigated. These are the rimes of the radicalization of political circumstances, people are capable of anything. It’s quite logical to be concerned”, said Mr Vuković.

Mr Vuković has been writing columns for “Svedok”, from Belgrade and, therefore, his political views are known in Serbia too.
