Train tours in Biogradska Gora announced for next summer

Montenegro’s summer season is coming to its close, and the public enterprise ‘National Parks of Montenegro’, JUNPCG, can only brag about record number of tourist arrivals. In his interview with the weekend edition of Dnevne Novine daily, director of the JUNPCG, Elvir Klica, reveals the company’s expectations regarding the tourist arrivals by the end of October, what were the novelties in their tourism offer over the last year and which interesting projects might be expected in the year that follows.

He said: “When it comes to this year’s summertime, we can say it has been quite successful for the National Parks, which is the result of our continuous and hard work. From the beginning of the year to 2 September, 340,138 visitors came to visit the National Parks of Montenegro, which is by about 30% higher compared to last year. Having in mind the fact there’s a rise in visitors to Montenegro’s parks, as well as the favorable weather conditions for having picnics in nature, in September and October we expect over 400,000 visitors.”

According to him, people are mostly interested to visit the NP Durmitor, widely recognized by its tourism offer, which includes hiking, mountaineering, biking and rafting on Tara River.

A novelty planned for next year especially refers to the NP Biogradska gora where they intend to introduce train tours.

“Namely, within the joint project done in cooperation with the UNDP and PKCG, the National Parks of Montenegro has been implementing a whole range of activities in order to move out a parking lot on this location. In a year or two, when the project becomes more interesting, this parking lot will be moved out to Kraljevo Kolo, where we plan to have 15 parking spaces for motor vehicles, 15 for buses and 30 for vans, and visitors will be transferred to the Park by two tourist trains.”
