Trifunović: Exponents of foreign interests have bases in media too

Darko Trifunović

Mr Darko Trifunović, security expert, said for Dnevne novine that NATO team countering hybrid threats, which is coming to Montenegro, would contribute to identifying fake journalists and elimination of hybrid warfare against citizens of Montenegro.

Mr Trifunović says that NATO team will provide Montenegrin judiciary with considerable expert help in order to act against exponents, risk holders and threats efficiently and duly.

Last year in July, NATO leaders agreed on the formation of counter-hybrid support teams, which would be providing adapted help to their allies in fight against hybrid activities.

Mr Trifunović says that NATO team will help in the identification of threats.

“Specific regulations must be adopted, providing prosecution of fake journalists and elimination of poisoning media stage”, says Mr Trifunović.

Serbian security expert says that he has been insisting on the need to adequate response to hybrid threats for almost one year.

“Hybrid warfare in Montenegro is waged by instruments of different policies coming from the east. Those exponents have become so violent that it required some sort of action”, says Mr Trifunović.

According to him, organizations and individuals advocating for Russian interests were leaders of such situations.

“Russia has played an important role in separation Montenegro from Serbia and it planned to transform Montenegro into a Russian base. There are still exponents of such policy. The consequences of their activities would be devastating for Montenegro”, says Mr Trifunović.

Mr Trifunović cites IN4S as an example of fake journalism.

“They say they are media agency, but IN4S is actually NGO which broadcasts media content unlawfully and receives moneys for it. Their propaganda activities are aimed at diminishing image of the Montenegrin government. Such activities are characterized as subversive activities against state order. They have nothing to do with journalism”, says Mr Trufunović.

He points out that relations between Montenegro and Serbia would be more stable if some representatives of Serbs in Montenegro weren’t trying to become relevant factors using political pressure and blackmail.

“It’s just part of hybrid warfare. The EU and progressive forces from around the world have recognized that as a threat”, says Mr Trifunović.

Mr Trifunović stresses that lies are also part of hybrid warfare.

“Montenegro has to adopt a set of new laws and it will need help for that. Some NGOs in Montenegro are nothing but organizations spreading lies. I think country must do something about fake journalists and fake portals. I don’t like that inertia regarding the matter. It has to change. It’s high time Prosecutor’s Office reacted”, says Mr Trifunović.
