In the thick of the coronavirus chaos, when Montenegro has been recording hundreds of new cases on a daily basis and somewhat greater number of deaths in the past two days, thousands of people and children as well, kissed the hand of the late Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral, Amfilohije Radović.
Despite the alarming data and appeals to people to abide by prescribed measures, the citizens obviously do not care about them. Prime minister-designate, Mr Zdravko Krivokapić, and Montenegro parliament speaker, Mr Aleksa Bečić, showed disrespect for the measures of the National Coordination Body, NCB.
It’s unbelievable that the NCB still hasn’t reacted, that is, they only appealed to people and clergy to adhere to the measures.
The only person who reacted was a doctor at the Clinical Center of Montenegro, Ms Nevenka Pavličić, by publicly calling on the president of the NCB, Mr Milutin Simović, to issue an order for closing Metropolitan Amfilohije’s coffin, as the hand-kiss recoil accelerates the virus spreading.
The new parliamentary majority didn’t respect the NCB rules either, and they should serve as an example to others. However, no one seems to care.
The Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral had urged the people who wished to pay respects to Metropolitan Amfilohije to do it by adhering to prescribed measures, having in mind the coronavirus epidemic.
