Prime Minister Duško Marković has confirmed- secretary to the National Security Council, Veselin Veljović, is the only canidate who has applied to become the next Director of the National Police. According to PM Marković, Veljović is the most eligible candidate for this position.
„You know that there’s a public vacancy notice which means there will be an interview conducted in the Human Resources Management Authority. We must take into account the position of the Ministry of Interior, the Government, the Security Council and the Parliament and when all these procedures finish, we shall see whether Veljović could be the head of the National Police. In my opinion, he’s completely eligible for this position,“ noted Marković.
Ex-director, Slavko Stojanović, resigned in March 2018 after Miloš Šaković and Radivoje Jovanović were killed in a shooting in Podgorica.
Although some media reported that Vesko Damjanović, who has been acting police director after Stojanović’s resignation, is one of the most serious candidates, the fact is that he hasn’t applied for this position.
