Vladimir Jokovic: Milic to remain significant figure in SNP

Joković i Milić

Former leader of the Socialist People’s Party Srdjan Milic will maintain significant influence in SNP, having in mind his great political experience and the fact that he is an MP and former president. Current SNP leader Vladimir Jokovic said this answering whether Milic’s membership in the party’s executive committee means he will be a significant SNP figure.

“I am sure that he will do his best to present SNP’s values and to strive for the preservation and unity of the party. His influence in the party will be significant given his great experience and the fact that he is an MP and a former party leader,” Jokovic said in an interview with DN.

Milic was recently elected a member of the SNP’s executive board, as well as his close associate Snezana Jonica. She lost the election for the party president to Jokovic by a close margin. Other committee members include SNP vice-presidents Danijela Pavicevic, Branko Ivanovic, Kolja Ljuljdjuraj and Slobodan Cavor.

The new party leader said that internal consultations will be completed by the end of September. Based on them, decisions on forming party leadership will be made.

However, he did not want to say who would be his closest associate.

“There are a lot of experienced, professional, educated and young people in SNP. So I am sure that we will make the right choice. I will present the concrete candidates to the party bodies first and then to the media,” added Jokovic.

Asked what he will change in the party compared to his predecessor, Jokovic said he would insist on engaging young people in order to strengthen SNP by introducing a new and positive energy in the party.

Speaking of the decline in party membership and potential transfer of some party members to Aleksandar Damjanovic’s party, the establishment of which was announced in the media, Jokovic says he believes that SNP will be a party that will attract new members.

“I believe all those who attended the party congress, as well as all of our members and supporters throughout Montenegro will remain loyal to SNP,” Jokic said.
