Vujanovic and Thaci invite Kosovo Parliament to ratify demarcation agreement

Vujanović i Tači

Presidents of Montenegro Filip Vujanovic and Kosovo Hashim Thaci called on the Kosovo Parliament to ratify the Agreement on the State Border of Montenegro and Kosovo, signed in Vienna on 26 August.

After a meeting held today in the Gorica Villa, they signed a joint statement calling on the Kosovo Parliament to ratify this agreement.

“A joint call is made on the basis of mutual trust, good will and the need for further improvement of relations while respecting the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of both countries, fulfilling the obligations of the UN Charter and respecting the European Commission’s Strategy for the Western Balkans,” Vujanovic’s cabinet said in a statement.

The declaration was reached during the last 48-hour effort between the presidents of Kosovo and Montenegro.

As stated in the declaration, after ratification and after the parties inform each other about it, the Agreement enters into force and a joint working body for marking the border line will be formed.

Both sides agreed, on the basis of the declaration, that this body should deal with possible misunderstandings during the marking of the border, based on the annex to the agreement.
