With new models, electricity will be either cheaper of more expensive

Starting from the 1st May, Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG) will enable its users to choose the most favorable supply models, depending on the manner of consumption. This will stimulate energy efficiency and contribute to the reduction of budget burden of buyers.

Citizens can get all the information about he model that best suits their manner of consumption at the counters windows in the municipality, or by dialing call center 19100. The calculator has already been set on the web portal of EPCG. Leaflets containing all the relevant information for the buyers will be ready soon, said the manager of the Supply Sector, Nikola Bezmarević.

He pointed out that they would monitor the experiences in the application of models and make necessary amendments or even introduce new tariffs while accepting suggestions of the consumers.

“There will be corrections, from 2% of discount to 6% of increase. Specific groups of consumers won’t even feel the increase. Around 60% of consumers who spend up to 300 KwH per month, the consumption will be calculated by 2% lower price within the blue mode. Prices won’t go up drastically with other models. For example, if the price of your electricity bills was €47 in January, it will be €48 now”, said Bezmarević.

Increase in prices and introduction of tariffs was caused by the constant increase of the electricity price at the Hungarian HUPX.

Bezmarević thinks that electricity in Montenegro isn’t the most expensive in the region.

“In Croatia, for example, it’s more expensive. In recent years, Montenegro has been importing 500 GWh of electricity. The situation is somewhat different in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, because they have balanced consumption and production”, explains Bezmarević.

According to him, electricity price in Montenegro is almost the same as it was in 2009, €9,89 per KWh. With new prices, it would amount €9,96.

In setting prices, EPCG tries to find balance between market values and material abilities of consumers.
