Italian citizens give permission for the power cable as well

City Council of San Giovanni Teatino recently approved a draft agreement between that city and the Italian company Terna which provides for setting up transmission lines and associated power equipment through several settlements of their town.

The Agreement was approved after months of negotiations launched by Terna to reassure local representatives that the design and construction of transmission lines linking power cable with Montenegro will not have a negative impact on the environment or health of people living near the village, quoted Italian media.

In addition to solving a big problem, for which citizens repeatedly publicly protested, Terna pledged in the agreement to finance the settlement of terrain for planned construction of transmission lines and installation of energy equipment. The value of these works amounts to 3.400.000 euros.

After getting approval from Croatia to have the underwater cable run through their waters as well, there are no more obstacles to continue the project of energy connection between Montenegro and Italy.

According to Dnevne Novine, it is expected that installing of 250 kilometers of power cable towards Montenegro will be continued soon, after which it will finally be connected to the power station whose construction began in Lastva Grbaljska, the municipality of Budva.

In late March, a Norwegian company Neksanas, installed towards Montenegro 140 kilometers of one of the two power cables.
