All prisoners in Spuž yesterday signed the petition requiring amnesty for those sentenced to up to 3-year imprisonment, while the rest should have their sentence slashed by a quarter due to the coronavirus pandemic. Prisoners submitted the petition to the Authority for the Enforcement of Criminal Sanctions, and sent the initiative to Montenegro’s President, Mr Milo Đukanović –parents of prisoners told CdM.
Due to the coronavirus global crisis, prisoners are also in fear and panic over the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). As there are prisoners suffering from chronic diseases, many are worried about not being able to keep the recommended social distancing. Prisoners are crowded and their fear around the coronavirus is mounting.
They sent a petition to the President hoping that he’ll understand their problem and grant amnesty.
