In accordance with Government’s decision to make its ports available to the region countries, Port Bar has continued to provide all port-transport services, without any delays and limitations, said Mr Vladan Vučelić, CEO of the Bar company.
He said they were not considering dismissals but reduction in April, May and June salaries had been agreed.
“Despite all the aggravating circumstances, Port bar will hopefully finish this year with positive results”, Mr Vučelić says.
“Reduction of economic activity is evident, and so are problems in recovery of claims. Several important negotiation the Port started at the end of last year were suspended”, Mr Vučelić said.
He says that Port’s free zone could be a chance for economic development even observed through the prism of the pandemic.
He pointed out that Port Bar settled its obligations regularly.
Mr Vučelić emphasized “responsibility and good reasoning” of the employees, as well as representation trade unions of the Port, who expressed high level of cooperation which resulted in signing agreement on the reduction of salaries in percentage with the aim of providing stability of operations in extraordinary conditions.
He said that Port hadn’t turned to the Government for assistance. It applied for the IDF loan.
Mr Vučelić thinks that business banks should also help economy with different credit policy.
He added that the pandemic had provoked different work conditions.
“We have found the way to maintain business process at appropriate level ad to keep the operational sector of the port ready at any moment”, Mr Vučelić says.
He stressed he was happy with the results achieved last year and €930.506 of profit.
Workers of the Port are also heroes
Mr Vučelić says the greatest success is the fact that the company has safeguarded health of all employees.
“Apart from respect and admiration for the healthcare staff, military and police, all local services, journalists, volunteers and high-risk professions, employees in the Port in Bar are definitely heroes of this time”, Mr Vučelić said.
Resumption of the investment process worth €10 million
Mr Vučelić said that Port in Bar had initiated an extensive investment cycle.
This year, he says, reconstruction and recovery of the Volujica operational coast is expected to begin.
