Montenegrin soldiers standing side by side with all NATO members

Despite bad weather, rain, snow and low temperatures, members of the Armed Forces of Montenegro have completely fulfilled tasks they have been assigned in the NATO mission in Latvia. They stood side by side with all members deployed in this country and were praised by their superiors. Commander of the third contingent, Mr Adnan Sijarić, points out that he is very proud of our soldiers.

He says that there were one officer, one sergeant and three military contractors in the third contingent which returned to Montenegro on Saturday.

“The job of the members of the Armed Forces of Montenegro is to go through different training processes and tasks. Every day, from 9 am to 5 pm, they have training session, sometimes on the field, sometimes in the base. Despite bad weather, rain, snow and low temperatures, members of the Armed Forces of Montenegro have completely fulfilled tasks they have been assigned in the NATO mission in Latvia”, Mr Sijarić said.

He reminds that Montenegro is NATO’s young member.

“We take every task with motivation, knowing that a new experience is ahead of us. Such tasks mean a lot to us. We learn every day”, Mr Sijarić said.

THE BEST IN ARTILLERY SHOOTING

So far, the contingent has carried out four exercises within eFP BG , two of which were interaction exercises where our members has joint training with the aim of uniting procedures to make all nine countries function in the same way.

“The third exercise was focused on artillery shooting and our soldiers were one of the best. That exercise took three days and our team of forward observers was on the field in close cooperation with JTAC, a team from Spain”, Mr Sijarić said.

The last exercise they have had so far, and the most important one because it assessed combat readiness of the eFP BG was completed on 12 March 2020.

“It took 10 days. We spent those days in tents with dry daily meal”, Mr Sijarić said.

He performed his duty in the BG command place, while our FO team was added as support to the Italian troop.

“My job was to monitor situation and coordinate the flow of the fight and to be link among filed units. Our FO team was in charge of being the “eyes” of the unit, observing and forwarding information to the commander of the troop”, Mr Sijarić said.

PRESIDENT PROUD OF OUR WORK

Members of the Armed Forces of Montenegro were reliable support for their counterparts for 24 hours every day.

“General Rajko Pešić visited our members and made sure they provided good quality of work and commitment. Mr Milo Đukanović also visited our contingent on 11 March and I had an impression he was very satisfied with our work”, Mr Sijarić added.

THE 4TH CONTINGENT ARRIVED IN LATVIA

The 4th contingent was organized just like previous. It consisted of one staff officer and four members of the team of the forward artillery observers from the Infantry battalion.

Members of the 4th contingent have gone through total preparation, assessment and certification. Members of the 4th contingent had additional challenge because the preparation took place in specific conditions due to the coronavirus epidemic.

However, with high level of discipline, they fully achieved their goals and are ready to represent Montenegro in Latvia in the best possible way.

DELAYS PROVOKED BY THE PANDEMIC

The coronavirus pandemic had an impact on NATO missions in Latvia and delayed some very useful exercises.

“I can say we were deprived of some very useful training sessions”, Mr Sijarić said.

COMBAT READINESS AT A VERY HIGH LEVEL

All members of the contingent have been assessed by their superiors, and their grades were excellent.

“Combat readiness of NATO e FP BG is at a very high level and marks of our contingent are the proof of our combat readiness” Mr Sijarić said.
