There are currently nine COVID-19 patients in hospitals; five in General Hospital in Berane, and 4 patients with more complex clinical picture are in the Clinical Center of Montenegro.
“Three of them are in the Infectious clinic and one patient is on ventilator, in very bad condition, said Dr Jevto Eraković, director of the Clinical Center.
Patients in Berane Hospital are in stable condition.
As far as current situation with coronavirus in Montenegro is concerned, Dr Eraković warns that there’s still big number of contacts, much greater than it was in March and April, making the possibility of the spread of the infection even higher.
“It is important that people understand that the virus is still strong, it’s dangerous. Crowds on the streets and in facilities should be reason enough to try to adhere to the measures that were in force in March and April”, Dr Eraković says.
If we don’t accept the fact that the virus is there, the situation will get worse.
Asked to comment on public gatherings of several thousand people, Dr Eraković says clearly:
“I can’t even think what might happen in Montenegro if we continue to defy recommendations. I except everyone to acknowledge the looming danger and understand that citizens’ health is more important than any other motive”, Dr Eraković says.
Could development of the situation lead to reinstatement of restrictions?
“Some restrictions have already been imposed in Rožaje. We are monitoring every inch of the country. If we state that the situation is going towards great epidemic problem, we will of course be required to resort to more restrictive measures”, Dr Eraković said.
He concluded by saying that further development of the situation depended on us.
