Speaking in a morning TV show of the public broadcaster (RTCG), head of the Clinical Center of Montenegro, Mr Jevto Erakovic, noted that Monenegro has nearly 600 critical care beds ready for coronavirus right now, and can have even more – 1.200 or 1.800 – if needed. According to him, the country has done everything to prepare for second virus wave. He also urged the citizens to adhere to the measures.
“There are currently 27 patients admitted to the Clinical Center, 11 of whom are being treated in the Infectious Diseases Clinic, 13 in the Intensive Care Unit and they’re the sickest coronavirus patients. Some of them are put on ventilators while others do better with non-invasive help.”
The number of current coronavirus infections is not a burden for docs who are doing their job with the same intensity.
“We are ready to face a much larger number of patients, but that doesn’t mean that it should be so. It’s why we need to abide by the measures. This is the period of the year when we don’t expect a spike in cases,” Mr Eraković said.
He continued: “We should think about the healthcare workers as well. They need to save some energy for the second virus wave.”
