Positive Montenegro replied to yesterday’s comment of the owner of Adriatic Properties, Mr. Petros Stathis, on their request, and their reaction is posted here integrally from the Dnevne Novine daily:
Since the very beginning, Positive Montenegro constructively participated in the case of the Queen’s Beach in Milocer and, to our knowledge, was the first party to officially visit this location, in order to see for ourselves the real situation on the ground, and not only believe that which has been reported by your media competitors.
In all fairness, we did see that the situation is much different than the one continually communicated to the public by opponents of the project, but on the other side, our economic analyzes have shown that there is room for significantly better conditions for the country at this time, than those offered by you and by the Government of Montenegro in the Annex submitted to us.
Positive Montenegro also dealt with the economic analysis of the situation and concluded that it is reasonable, due to the long period of the project, to increase both investment and your activities on promotion of Montenegro as a tourist destination.
With regard to the argument that renouncing of arbitration is a too-high demand, we say that it is extremely logical because if we agree to accept the Annex, you are reimbursed for the damage, and we want to ensure that the citizens of Montenegro, on this basis, won’t ever have to pay for the damage they did not cause. Furthermore, we had in mind the fact that as a businessman, you will understand our expectation that you should show extra effort, irrespective of whether it requires potential financial sacrifices, in order to establish mutual trust during duration of the project. For us, as we are sure you will understand, the paramount thig is that the state of Montenegro and its citizens do not suffer a loss.
Regarding other requirements, we are aware of the fact that they are demanding, but also proportionate to the benefits you are going to get. In this regard, it is absolutely up to you to decide whether these amendments are acceptable or not for you, and to inform the official authorities of Montenegro of your decision. We are not seeking an alibi, and we will not be swayed by pressures from any newspaper, Vijesti or Dnevne Novine, or any other electronic or print media. Our position is clear. As far as ‘raising the bar’ goes, we will say that the only final requirements are those which we advocated in the Parliament, and that we haven’t submitted any other official proposals.
