Central Bank: Montenegro earned almost €800m from tourism and spent €33m

According to all parameters, this year will be a profitable one for Montenegrin tourism, because it contributed almost €800m to the budget.

“Regarding the first 10 months, the estimated revenues from foreign tourists amounted to €792m. In the same period last year, the estimated revenues amounted to €662m. The outflow for the ten months of this year amounted to €33.4m,” the Central bank stated.

Traditionally, the most of the money spent in Montenegro came from Serbian tourists.

“The most of overnights, during the ten months of 2015, were generated by tourists from Serbia, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Germany,” the CBCG stated.

According to MONSTAT statistics agency, 51,124 tourist arrivals were generated in October, which is 8.5 percent more compared to the same period last year. “There were 224,140 overnight stays, which is by 16.2% higher than in the same month last year. Out of those, 85.4% overnight stays were generated by foreign tourists and 14.6% by domestic ones,” the data show.

Most of foreign tourists’ overnights in October were generated by tourists from Russia (26.8%), Serbia (11.9%), Germany (8.5%), the United Kingdom (4.8%), Bosnia and Herzegovina (4.3%), France (4.1%), Ukraine (3.7%), Italy (1.4%). Tourists from other countries generated 34.5% overnights.

In the structure of overnight stays by type of resorts, the most of them were generated in seaside resorts (87.1%), the Capital (7.5%), in other tourist resorts (3%), in mountain resorts and other places.
