Montenegro really appreciates initiatives aimed at strengthening regional cooperation in the Western Balkans, said secretary of state in the Ministry of Interior, Mr Dragan Pejanović, at the Berlin process Meeting of Interior Ministers and underscored the importance this platform has for security.
Talking about the proposal for the regional agreement on moving with ID cards, Mr Pejanović said that Montenegro has recognized the importance of the freedom of movement and resolved the ID issue earlier through bilateral agreements and regulation on visa regime.

“Experience of the Ministry of Interior in this context confirms that travelling with ID cards brings benefits in terms of more efficient border checks, as well as increasing general mobility in the WB region”, Mr Pejanović said.
Mr Pejanović touched on the role of Border police in curbing the spread of coronavirus and enabling Montenegrin nationals abroad to return to their homeland.
He added that it was necessary to strengthen alternative models of exchange of information and joint action aimed at overcoming challenges such as illegal migrations, human trafficking and migrant smuggling.
