Government of Montenegro has stated that all requirements for the construction of Briska gora solar power plant have been met, and on twice as bigger space than previously projected, Dnevne novine reports.
Amendments to the Spatial ad Urban pan for Ulcinj envisage increase of the zone intended for the construction of solar plant, from 467 hectares to 925.25 hectares.
Absence of spatial plans is the only reason for the temporary delay of the construction.
Agreement on lease of state-owned land defines the construction in two phases: the installed capacity in the first phase is 50 MW, while in the second phase the installed capacity will be greater than 200 MW.
“The objective of the amendments to the Spatial plan is to extend planned capacities for the exploitation of solar energy and ensure plan conditions for the implementation of the Agreement on lease of state-owned land, as well as to define guidelines for direct implementation of the spatial plan for the facilities intended for economic activities”, the Information states.
Electric Power Company of Montenegro and interested users of the space have made remarks and suggestions to the draft amendments.
Solar power plant on Briska gora will make significant contribution to the fight against global climate change and will ensure greater energy efficiency and independence.
Spatial plan does not define positions of the power plant facilities but instead locations will be defined on the grounds of further analyses.
Briska gora will be built by the consortium of companies, headed by EPCG.
Projected annual production will reach around 450 GWh of electricity.
Total value of the project exceeds €200 million. The construction should start at the end of this year or at the beginning of the next.
