Buddhism is a life philosophy and at the core of it is a belief that peace on the inside brings peace on the outside. This is way the goal of the conference is to promote peace through different religious and philosophical teachings.
Over 200 experts from 52 states and over 500 visitors have gathered at the conference, along with Thein Sein, president of Myanmar Union.
“Peace can be understood in many different ways. Some of the experts will talk about ”inner peace”, while others will discuss wars and how to prevent them. In today’s world, where violence abounds, we need to confront the hate speech, religious conflicts and wars, because their starting point is in our minds. We must discuss different ways to solve these issues both individually and globally”, Ashin Kumara, one of the organizers of the conference, said.
Montenegrin delegation members are Al-Ammar Kašić, psychologist and yoga instructor, and Mladen Ivanović, director and environmental activist, who are members of “Middle Road”, Buddhist society Theravada, whose goal is it to spread Buddha’s teachings in the region of ex Yugoslavia.
“To put it shortly, the point is to rid oneself of inevitable suffering in life. This is done by meditating and becoming aware of your own thoughts, emotions and acts. You can discover the root cause of suffering with meditation, and by discovering the cause, you eliminate the consequence”, Ivanović said.
Their public meditation classes are held on the hill Gorica, during the warmer season, while during the winter they are held in Sport Society “Unana” in Zabjelo. They are completely free.
“Group meditations are an opportunity for people to socialize, talk about their experiences, and encourage each other on the road to awareness and mind strength”, Ivanović said.
